Imphal, August 27 2020: Chief Minister N Biren Singh today expressed happiness seeing Nambul River transform into a clean river as he inaugurated plantation of flowers at the riverbank inbetween Keishampat Bridge to Wahengbam Leikai Maharani Bridge .
"I have been working to see Nambul river a clean river since a very long time and had started working to transform it since 2004 when I was a Minister in the then government", a jubilant Biren Singh said talking to reporters.
As the Chief Minister led the flower plantation at Keishampat today he seems to get relieve from all sort of disturbances due to the political chaos.

He was seen forgetting politics of all sort and showed his happiness seeing the river clean and tidy.
It was the initiative of the State Environment Department , but for N Biren Singh he appreciated all those grass root workers who had been working days and night to keep the river and its bank clean.
Amidst the busy scheduled due to the political instability and the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chief Minister N.Biren Singh spare some moment to pose with the grass root workers for photojournalist, as a mark of respect and encouragement to them.
Before joining politics, N.Biren Singh had written many articles and editorial to keep Nambul river clean among others.
After he joined politics and later became a Minister, he started taking up Nambul project during 2004.But not so much changes were seen besides taking up all those effort until the last couple of years , he became the Chief Minister of Manipur .
Environment Minister Awangbou Newmai, who takes a lead role in fulfilling the dream of making Nambul a clean river, also joined the chief Minister.
Talking to media persons he said it is everyone's duty to keep Nambul a clean and pollution free river as it is the face of Imphal city and the state as a whole.
Deputy Speaker Robendro, MLA Dingo, MLA Seityabrata , MLA S Rajen MLA RK Imo along with the Chief Secretary, DGP, Additional Chief Secretary and other government top officials were also present during the inauguration of the flower plantation on the river bank of Nambul.
Chief Minister N.Biren Singh further said that the government has already planned for maintain the water level of Nambul river.
"Our concern department has work out a plan to make sure that water level is kept under control either during rainy season or none rainy season", the Chief Minister said.
The chief Minister however said that there are still works left to be completed to make sure that Nambul River is completely free from pollution.
For that the government has started over Rs.90 crore project to construct sewerage for those draining into the Nambul river and that sewerage will be treated at Mongsangei
