Thoubal, December 05 2023: As done across the globe, the World Soil Day was also observed at Krishi Vigyan Kendra Thoubal campus located at Khangabok in Thoubal District, on Tuesday.

The observance which was held on the theme "Soil and Water: a source of life" under the joint aegis of KVK Thoubal and ICAR-ATARI Zone-VII, UMIAM Meghalaya, was attended by Thoubal DC Ahanthem Subash and KVK Thoubal head senior scientist Dr S Zeshmarani as chief guest and president respectively while 3rd IRB CO Saranthem Hemanta, Thoubal District Horticulture and Soil conservation officer Kh Lenin and NABARD Kakching DDM Irungbam Premjoy were present as guests of honour.

Along with distributing bulletins and leaflets of KVK Thoubal to the public, the function also witnessed distribution of soil health cards to farmers of Thoubal and Kakching districts.

In addition, lentil, chickpea, pea, ground nut, cabbage and onion were made available to 28 farmers.

A 2-day-long KVK Agri Fair - 2023 was also launched on the occasion by the chief guest.

Four farmer producer companies under NABARD and CAU are displaying their products at the fair.
