Imphal, April 09 2022: 'Farm Basket', an organic outlet that will sell organic produce including black rice (Chakhao) from the State was opened today at Dimapur SuperMarket.

The outlet is being opened under the initiative of Imphal based M/s Chakhao Poireiton Organic Producers Company ltd and the inauguration programme was attended by former Agriculture joint director of Nagaland Kiyevi Aye and assistant project officer of Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern Region-Agriculture (MOVCDNER-Agri) Kh Nimaichand as presidium members.

Speaking at the event, Chongtham Santa, chairman of Chakhao Poireiton Organic Producers Co Ltd said value-added products made from organic products of the State including varieties of rice, Chakhao, passion fruits, pineapple, U-morok etc will be made available at the Farm Basket.

Farm Basket will also cater to wholesale buyers, he added.

Chongtham Santa also informed 4 people from Dimapur have already placed a wholesale order for rice from Manipur.

Former joint director Kiyevi Aye said it was a great initiative that organic produce from Manipur are being available to the people through Farm Basket.

He also extended wishes to Farm Basket for its success.

Kh Nimaichand said Farm Basket in Dimapur will act as a transit point for organic produce from Manipur to other parts of the country.

He also urged other farmer producer companies to open such stores.
