Training on mushroom cultivation, food processing begins

Bishnupur, January 24 2022: Under the sponsorship of UGC-Stride Component 1; departments of biotechnology and food technology, SK Women's College, Nambol launched a six-day mushroom cultivation and food processing training programme at the conference hall of the college on Monday.

The inaugural function of the training programme was attended by Meira Foods proprietor Hanjabam Shubhra Devi, College principal Dr W Robindro Singh, head of department chemistry S Chandrakumar Singh, head of department human rights and UGC STRIDE Component 1 project coordinator Dr L Muhindro as presidium members.

Delivering the keynote address, SK Women's College department of biotechnology assistant professor Dr L Ishwori Devi said that the training is being conducted with an objective to ensure self-employment to pass out students of the college.

She informed that biotechnology and food technology departments are also preparing to organise mushroom cultivation and food processing training in rural areas so as to help the unemployed youth earn decent income as well as improve the local economy.

It is informed that on-going training programme will be conducted in two batches with 50 students each.
