Bishnupur, November 27 2021: Bishnupur Forest Division in collaboration with Rising Club Ngaikhong Khullen, Green Brigade Toubul, POSGAT Thinungei, Global Science Club Khoijuman and KYVO Kwashiphai conducted an Anti- Poaching Campaign Cum Awareness programme at New Primary School, Ngaikhong Khullen Mamang Leikai on Saturday.

The programme was attended by Bishnupur divisional forest officer (DFO) Dr Rebika Soibam Chanu as chief guest, range forest officer (RFO) S Ratan Singh as president and Rising Club Ngaikhong Khullen president Surjit Singh as guest of honour.

Speaking at the event, Dr Rebika exhorted the youth to work for conservation of environment.

Migratory birds flock to the state for feeding and they are not our food.

They are very important part of the food chain and if they are harmed and stop arriving, then there will be adverse effect on nature which in turn will affect humans.

Thus, people must join hands to protect the forest and animals, she added.

In his address, RFO S Ratan stated that the aim of the programme was to raise awareness amongst the masses on the importance of saving wildlife.

Humans are very much dependent on trees.

There is change in environment and climatic condition due to large scale deforestation.

If there are ample forests in hills then the state's climate will remain stable and if they are destroyed it will lead to drastic changes in the climatic condition and environment, he pointed out.
