Public have major role in keeping Nambul river clean: RK Imo

Imphal, October 31 2021: Protection and preservation of Nambul river cannot be achieved by the Government alone without the support of the public.

Sagolband AC MLA RK Imo said this while inaugurating two low cost community toilet at Moirang Leirak and Tera Amudon on the bank of Nambul river today as a part of 'Nambul River Rejuvenating Programme' under National River Conservation Plan.

Speaking at the inauguration programme, RK Imo said development is not just infrastructural improvements but it has also much to do with the menatlity of the people.

The public as a whole need to collectively work together to achieve the goal of the society and not leave everything alone to the Government.

RK Imo said the section of Nambul river in Sagolband AC are being developed with various works taken up at different sections including lighting at Masjid road to Keishampat, netting in Moirang leirak to Meino leirak, planting flowers at various sites etc.

Despite the work taken up for the betterment of the public, some people continue to dispose their waste at the river which is very unfortunate and should not be repeated.

They can have their waste safely disposed in the IMC collection vehicles in the area, he added.
