Bishnupur, October 16 2021: Governor La Ganesan on Saturday visited Gopinath Mandir at Ningthoukhong and Keibul Lamjao National Park in Bishnupur district.
He also interacted with district level officials, families of freedom fighters and representatives of civil society organisations at the National Park.
Speaking at the programme organised by the district administration, Governor La Ganesan stressed that development has close relationship with cleanliness.
Good hygiene and cleanliness can protect us from all kinds of infectious diseases as such Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Swachh Bharat Mission to enable every citizen to live a healthy life, he said.
Good health means not only strong body but also mental wellness, and clean and tidy environment helps in ensuring mental wellbeing, the Governor maintained, while expressing elation that Bishnupur district has been announced as open defecation free.
He also expressed extreme pleasures on seeing the district surrounded by greenery and fabulous sceneries and expressed confidence that all the district level officers will continue to contribute their mite towards maintaining cleanliness and greenery in the district.
La Ganesan also made an appeal to all sections of the society to get vaccinated saying it is the best way to defeat Covid-19 pandemic and make the state free of the infectious disease.
It is praiseworthy that 75 per cent of the district's eligible population has been vaccinated and of this, 30 per cent have received their second dose, he further said.
During the interaction with the Governor, some district level officers highlighted shortages of staff that has been hampering in the smooth functioning of their of fices.
Families of freedom fighters and representatives of CSOs also urged the Governor to address their grievances.
As part of the function, additional DC Hanjabarn Bobby Sharma highlighted various activities and achievements of different departments through power point presentation.
The event was also attended by retired teacher Biramangol and Governor's personal secretary Bobby Waikhom.
Earlier, the Governor on the way to Keibul Lamjao paid a visit to Gopinath Mandir and offered his veneration.
