"66th Wildlife Week 2021" was also celebrated in the State by organising various competitions and rallies.
BISHNUPUR
As part of the '66th Wildlife Week' celebration, Environmental Social Reformation and Sangai Protection Forum in association with All Manipur United Clubs Organisation (AMUCO) and Manipur Students Federation (MSF) organised a cycle rally under the theme, "Forest and Livelihood Sustaining People and Planet" from Khordak to Keibul Lamjao on Friday.
L Bhagaton, Director LDU and Ph Nando Luwang, president AMUCO flagged off the rally participated by about 200 students.
L Memchoubi of Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Ima Lup; Kh Rabikanta, environment and ecology affairs secretary, MSF Mayai Loishang; T Budhi, president Environment Social Reformation and Sangai Protection Forum; M Brojen, member Wangoo Borayangbi Zilla Parishad; Y Kunjarani, president All Manipur Women's Voluntary Organisation; K Jugeshor, Principal Kumbi College and social worker Soibam Yonba also took part in the rally.
JIRIBAM
Divisional Forest Office, Jiribam Forest Division also celebrated the 66th Wildlife Week at Divisional Forest Office, DFO Complex in Uchathol on the theme, "Wildlife, Nature and Human Existence'.
The programme was attended by Huirem Rajenkumar Singh, Honorary Wildlife Warden, Jiribam Forest Division and Rajesh Darade, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer, Jiribam District as presidium members.
Later, a quiz competition was also conducted wherein Angelina Ahanthem of RK Sanatombi Vidyalaya, Jiribam and Soibam Binita Chanu of Highway English School secured first and second positions respectively.
Prizes were also distributed to the top 14 students in the District Level Slogan Writing Competition.
KANGPOKPI
Kangpokpi Forest Division also celebrated the 66th Wildlife Week at Parizeau Maranatha Academy at Kangpokpi District Headquarters.
It was attended by James Doujapao Haokip, MCS, Chief Executive Officer, Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council; Lhingneikim Kipgen, ZEO Kangpokpi; Gary Touthang, Administrative Secretary, Parizeau Maranatha Academy and Chinpilhing Kipgen, DFO Kangpokpi as presidium members.
During the celebration, Certificate of Appreciations were awarded to Kaybie Chongloi, a local senior journalist; ATSUM's Youth Affairs secretary, Lamcha Chongloi and Kangpokpi police for their contribution towards the preservation and conservation of forest & wildlife in the district.
Moreover, prizes were also distributed to the winners of various competitions conducted by Kangpokpi Forest Division in connection with the week-long celebration.
