Bpr/Chd/Spi, September 18 2021: International Year of Millets 2023 was launched on Saturday at Conference Hall KVK Utlou and planted tree saplings as part of the National Nutrition Mission.
The programme was attended by Utlou GP Pradhan, N Sarat Singh; KVK Utlou chairman, Th Chaoba Singh; Ishok GP Pradhan, W Deven Singh; Sanjenbam-Pukhrambam GP, N Birjit Meitei; CDPO Bishnupur, ICDS Bishnupur Project, Th Suranjoy Singh and senior scientist & Head KVK Utlou, Dr Kh Brajamani Meetei as presidium members.
During the programme, KVK Utlou, Scientist Plan Protection, Kh Maipak Singh delivered a lecture on 'Role of plantation on sustainable agriculture and rural livelihood' while KVK Utlou Home Science scientist, N Bandana Devi spoke on 'Nutri Cereals and their role on human health' .
CHANDEL
International Year of Millet 2023 and campaign on 'Nutri -Garden and Tree Plantation' was also conducted on Friday at KVK Chandel.
It was attended by Ng Vincent Monsang, chief Monsangpantha village; Roshnichand, CDPO, ICDS Chandel and Dr A Ameeta Devi, Head in-charge of ICAR-KVK Chandel as presidium members.
The programme was also precipitated by 40 girl children, 35 women farmers and staff of KVK Chandel.
SENAPATI
Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Hengbung also observed the 'International Year of Millets, 2023' which was also inaugurated by the Union Agriculture Minister.
Before the kick off programme, the members consisting of 130 farmers virtually participated in the National Inauguration on Friday.
During the programme, experts including Dr N Jyotsna; Prof L Joy Kumar Singh, Director FGI, Hengbung; and RK Philip, Finance Secretary of NPO and Mayangkhang Area Development Committee enlightened the participants on the benefits of millets.
Lecture on nutri-cereals and their role on human health was delivered by Dr Telem Ratan Singh, SMS (PBG) KVK Senapati while A Brojen Singh, PA (Agroforestry) KVK Senapati spoke on 'role of plantation for Sustainable Agriculture and Rural livelihood' .
