Thoubal, September 15 2021: Public Health Engineering Department, Thoubal Division on Wednesday launched the observance of Swachhata Hi Seva 2021, which will continue till October 2 (Gandhi Jayanti) at the office of PHE Division Thoubal.

Speaking at the inaugural function, Thoubal Division executive engineer N Livingstone informed that the observance is held in connection with "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav" celebration.

During the observance, renovation/repairing of public places, construction of soak pits, compost pits, door to-door collection of wastes including plastic wastes, etc, will be carried out.

Additionally, Panchayat Ghar meetings will be held along with conduct of mass social service camps at community halls and public areas.

Livingstone further said that training is being provided to Pradhans, ward members, local leaders, women bodies and Village Water Sanitation Committee representatives for successful implementation of the programme.

Stating that a clean and green Manipur would not be possible without the support of the people, he appealed to the people to take a proactive role in maintaining cleanli ness so as to prevent spread of diseases.
