Imphal, August 29 2021: Water Resources and YAS Minister Letpao Haokip on Friday inspected various sites at Moreh town to undertake developmental projects.
He inspected the wooden bridge that runs over the Khujaorok river at Moreh Ward no 6 .
Speaking to media persons, the Minister said that the bridge that runs over Khujaorok river at Moreh Ward no 6 is in extremely bad shape posing huge inconvenience to the public.
He assured that he will urge the Chief Minister to construct a new bridge very soon.
The banks of Khujaorok river adjacent to the bridge may also cave in anytime, said Letpao and added that protection/retaining walls will be built up under the funding of NESID.
Officials of the Water Resources Department were also present during the inspection drive.
On the other hand, Letpao Haokip visited Sahei village, located at the outskirts of Moreh.
There, he interacted with the village chief and later inspected the village playground for upgrading.
Earlier, the Minister also visited S Moljol village and had a meeting with the village chief along with the Chancellor of Manipur International University (MIU), Dr Harikumar Pallathadka.
The meeting discussed the proposed site for the construction of the University campus under UNESCO at Moljol, and the process and requirements for acquiring the land for the purpose.
It may be mentioned that the Manipur International University (MIU) is an Autonomous State Statutory International University established and recognised by the State Government .
MIU is established by an Act, 'Manipur International University Act 2018' and is recognised and listed by the University Grants Commission (UGC) .
It is also declared as an 'International University of Excellence' and 'Institution of State Importance' .
