World Environment Day observed all over the State

Imphal, June 05 2021: World Environment Day was observed across the State today to generate awareness about the significance of nature.

World Environment Day observed all over the State

BISHNUPUR
Bishnupur Forest Division celebrated World Environment Day under the theme "Ecosystem restoration" by organising a tree plantation drive at New Mini Secretariat Complex.

It was attended by DC Bishnupur, Krishna Kumar; DFO Bishnupur, Dr Rebika Soibam Chanu; ADM Bishnupur, H Boby Sharma; DRDA Bishnupur CEO, L Manikanta; SDO Bishnupur and DLOs.

32 Bn CRPF Loktak also observed World Environment Day at its HQ in Loktak Project and planted around 2000 tree saplings.

The programme organised under the aegis of CRPF Manipur & Nagaland Sector was attended by 32 Bn CRPF Loktak CO, H Ranjit Singh; 2ic, VK Singh; NHPC Loktak chief general manager, Sh A K Ghosh and general manager, Sh Ranjeet Thakur.

Similarly, the All Loktak Lake Area Fishers Union, Manipur (ALLAFUM) also observed World Environment Day at Champu Khangpok Floating Village, Langolsabi, Loktak Lake.

It was observed under the theme "Save Loktak for the Future Generation" .

The Union urged the people of Manipur to be more cautious about wetlands such as Lamphelpat, Yaralpat, Akampat, etc drying up due to different factors and other threats to the environment and ecological character of Manipur.


CHANDEL
World Environment Day was celebrated in virtual mode by KVK Chandel today.

Village chiefs, farmers, students, officials and staff of Line Departments participated in the event.

During the programme, Dr K Sonamani Singh, ACTO (SWCE), KVK Chandel, stressed on the importance of contributing our bit to make the environment healthy and sustainable.

Later, 11 tree saplings were also planted in the KVK farm.

CHURACHANDPUR
Komrem Students Union - Churachandpur District (KRSU-CCPUR) observed World Environment Day at Sagang village.

A mass tree plantation drive participated by the locals was also conducted.

Besides, Forest Department of Churachandpur also conducted mass plantation drive in collaboration with Bunglushi village authorities and Youth Club, Samulam Subdivision; Zalenmun village authorities; BSF Peace Ground officials and Mongkot village authorities.

KANGPOKPI World Environment Day was celebrated in Kangpokpi by SP Ngaimun village Youth Club, Motbung Youth Club, United Saparmeina Youth Club and Keithelmanbi Youth Association.

Meanwhile, Zalen Group and Saitu Gamphazol Area Youth Organization (SGAYO) in collaboration with the Kangpokpi Forest Division also observed World Environment Day at SGAYO playground.

In the event, tree saplings were planted in the presence of Chinpilhing Kipgen, DFO Kangpokpi, Range Officer Haotinkhup Khongsai, Dousel Reuben and Haojagin Chongloi.

As a part of the observance a writing competition was also held.

The committee also distributed tree saplings.

KAKCHING
In observance of World Environment Day, Nahasinggi Khongthang (NK) and Kakching Khunai Chaokhathanba Lup (KKCL) carried out a plantation drive at Kakching Wairi KMC road.

Besides, the District Administration Kakching also celebrated World Environment Day at Mini Secretariat Complex Kakching.

It was attended by DC Kakching, D Gangmei; Lions Club of Kakching Greater president, M Munal Meitei; Additional SP, Yumnam Joyraj and representatives of CSOs.

MOREH
World Environment Day was also observed by Kuki Students Organisation Moreh Block under the theme "Reimagine, recreate and restore" at its office premises in Ngamkhai Veng, Moreh.

It was attended by Tengnoupal SP, Th Vikramjit; 43 Assam Rifles CO, Sumit Sood; SDO Moreh, I Dinesh Kumar; ex ADC member, Cecilia; community leaders; and members of KWU & HR, MCC and MYC.

NONEY
In observance of World Environment Day and foundation day of Longmai Nature Club, executives of Longmai Nature Club along with the ex-officio Chairman, Napolean Rongmei, DFO, Noney Forest Division and officials from Noney Forest Division including Gonmei Gaisuakmei, Range Forest Officer (RFO) Noney HQs organized a plantation drive along the stretch between the Khumji (Lukhambi-II) bridge and Nungtek tunnel.

Over 100 tree saplings were planted along the entire stretch and across the proposed Railway track.

Similar programme was also held at different villages in Noney area.

TAMENGLONG
Tamenglong Forest Division along with District administration Tamenglong also celebrated World Environment Day by planting saplings at Tamenglong Headquarters Lower Ground.

It was attended by ADM Tamenglong, Kajagai Gangmei; Additional SP, Kartik, IPS; SDO Tamenglong, Paul Nangsha; SDPO, Josiah Panmei; Honorary Wildlife Warden, Nehemiah Panmei; RFO, Joel Gangmei and Rainforest Club members.

As part of the celebration, a photography competition was also organised in two categories.

Category-1 mobile category only for students and category-2 DSLR open for all.

A webinar was also held in connection with the Celebration of World Environment Day 2021, with Rainforest Club Tamenglong, Corbett Foundation, IndiGo Reach, Tamenglong Forest Division, Mangolnganbi College and IBCN.

Tamei Sub Division HQ under Tamenglong Forest Division also celebrated World Environment Day and Asenliu Newmai w/o Awangbow Newmai, Minister Forest Environment and Climate Change, Government of Manipur took part in the celebration by planting saplings.

The celebration was also attended by Renee SDO Tamei; Khundrakpam Johnson, RFO Tamei and Tamah Students Union.

THOUBAL
Likewise, World Environment Day was also observed at various places in Thoubal District by planting tree saplings.

Tree plantation drive was conducted at Thoubal Khunou by Thoubal Forest Division; at MYDO Clun ground by Multipurpose Youth Development Organisation (MYDO) Wangjing, Youth Volunteers Association (YVA) and Wangjing SK Leikai COVID-19 Task Force; at Yairipok Kekru by Kekru Ideal Progressive Committee (KIPC); at Tekcham Maning Ching by Social Educational and Sports Association, Tekcham Maning Ching, Puco Progressive United Club Organisation Khongjom Circle and Langathel Zilla Parishad.
