Tamenglong, April 14 2021: Liangmai Naga Katina Ruangdi (LNKR) under Liangmai Naga Council Manipur (LNCM) and Liangmai Pui Naga Ruangdi (LPNR) organised an awareness campaign on 'Forest conservation' at Tamei today.
As a part of the campaign, a rally also took out from Tamei Police station to Tamei R Tale Market, followed by a public meeting.
During the public meeting, LNCM president, R Machundoubou; 4th Bihar Regiment Tamei Post, CO, Colonel K Nishant Nair; LPNR president, Th Priscilla highlighted the importance and the need to ban timber logging in the region.
Students participating in the rally appealed to stop cutting down trees in order to protect the environment for the future generation.
Addressing the programme, R Machundoubou stated that three resolutions were taken during the meeting including a complete ban on timber logging within 2 weeks and poppy cultivation in Liangmai area.
Anyone found violating the ban would be held accountable before the biggest customary court of Liangmai 'Apaiky', he added.
