Clean Imphal campaign

Imphal, October 23 2020: Newly inducted MAHUD Minister Okram Henry today launched a Clean Imphal Campaign under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) at Shamu Makhong, Khwairamband.

The theme of the campaign which would go on till October 31 is 'My waste, my responsibility' .

Kick-starting the campaign, Okram Henry appealed to all the people of Imphal and surrounding areas to dispose waste materials at proper places.

Saying that imposing fines is enough to chastise defaulters who dispose waste materials at improper places, Henry said that he would look into what additional measures can be initiated to address the malady.

He said that a complaint room would be opened through which citizens may inform about presence of garbage and waste materials in and around Imphal city.

IMC Mayor L Lokeshore said that everybody wants to live neat and clean but many find it hard to transform their wish into action.

There are problem of not collecting household wastes in time.

There are also problems of Government not designating waste disposal sites.

All the measures need to be tackled collectively, said the Mayor.

MAHUD Director Harikumar said that it is everybody's responsibility to keep Imphal city neat and clean.

He then sought people's support to the campaign launched today.
