Imphal, October 31 2020: Catching, killing and selling of Amur Falcons in Tamenglong district during winter season have been banned with immediate effect.

According to an order issued by the Tamenglong District Magistrate today, if any one is found catching, killing or selling Amur Falcons which usually migrate to the district from northern China during winter season, he/she is liable to be punished under the Wildlife Protection Act 1972 .

Village chiefs should monitor and ensure that the order is complied with by one and all and if there is any case of defying the order, the same must be reported to the SDO concerned, it said.

Notably, satellite radio transmitter fitted Amur Falcons, Irang and Chiulon have already arrived at Puching village.
