Clean Senapati river campaign continues

Senapati, March 25 2025: In continuation of the 'Clean Senapati River Campaign', the District Administration of Senapati conducted a joint cleanliness drive today along the stretch from Senapati Bridge to Monday Market Bridge under the theme 'Keep it clean, keep it flowing'.

The joint cleanliness drive was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Senapati, Mantoni Doley, IAS accompanied by Rang David Kung, MCS, ADM/ADC, Senapati, Adahrii Maheo, MCS, ADC/CEO, Senapati and P P Ronald, MCS, Project Director, DRDA, Senapati.

As part of the campaign, the cleanliness drive was conducted at black spot areas (where large amounts of garbage have accumulated in the river) and the incompleted areas of the earlier joint cleanliness drive held along the stretch from Senapati Bridge to Monday Market Bridge.

The cleanliness drive was participated by all the SDO's of the district and its staff, Revenue Department (DC Staff), Autonomous District Council and DRDA, Senapati District Students Association (SDSA), Karong Senapati Town Committee (KSTC), Poumai Naga Tsiidoumai Me (PNTM), Maralui Karailimai Swuijoikang (MKS), Zeliangrong Students Union (ZSU) and nearby colonies.

During the drive, the locality authorities and Youth Clubs were instructed to maintain strict vigil to prevent pollution of the river in the future.

Altogether, around 500 people participated in today's Clean Senapati River Campaign.

Around 20 tonnes of garbage (mixed wastes) was collected during the cleanliness drive and later disposed of at a designated place by the Karong Senapati Town Committee.

It may be mentioned that the Clean Senapati River Campaign is an initiative of the District Administration of Senapati which aimed at restoring and preserving Senapati river which is the lifeline of the town.

It is a step towards environmental preservation ensuring that the river pollution is controlled and it remains a resource for future generations.

The campaign aims to raise awareness, engage communities, and foster collective action to combat pollution and promote river conservation.

The campaign envisages a collaborative effort of District Administration, ADC, KSTC, CSO's, Village/Community leaders and volunteers for taking up river cleaning drives, spreading awareness through community engagement and use of social media.
