Bishnupur, March 31 2024: A one day awareness programme was organized by the Bishnupur Forest Division, Government of Manipur today on "Conservation and Protection of Natural Forest" under State CAMPA (Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority), 2023-24 .
The programme was conducted to promote afforestation and build awareness and appreciation among the youths on the importance of forests.
More than 50 students along with locals participated in the awareness programme, said a press release by the Divisional Forest Officer, Bishnupur Forest Division.
While addressing the gathering, the Divisional Forest Officer Waikhom Romabai emphasized upon the need to join hands with all the stakeholders including NGOs working in the field of forests, wildlife and environment in conservation and protection of natural forests.
She further added that conservation of natural forest is the need of the hour for preservation of rare and endangered indigenous species of the State's flora and fauna.
She appealed to all to plant more trees, buy eco-friendly products and to inculcate the habit of learning about forests for environmental stability, human health and happiness.
Technical sessions on "Natural Forest & Water" and "Dwindling Natural Forest & Increased Wildlife rescue incidents" were delivered by eminent speakers namely, RK Birjit Singh, Honorary Wildlife Warden, Bishnupur District and Elangbam Premjit, Secretary, Wildlife Explorer.
The programme was also attended by M Nilamani Singh, Range Forest Officer, Bishnupur Range; H Geetchandra Sharma, Range Forest Officer, Moirang Range; RK Sadananda, Range Forest Officer, Headquarters and staff of the Bishnupur Forest Division.
