Cleanliness drive, tree plantation mark 'Swachchata Hi Seva' Campaign

Imphal, September 22 2023: Sanitation workers and staff of Thoubal Municipal Council (TMC) on Friday cleaned Thoubal Keithel and gave awareness to market vendors, mainly women and shopkeepers about 'Swachhata Hi Seva' campaign being carried out in the district under the district administration.

TMC also organised a tree plantation programme at Thoubal Khunou Waste Management Plant which was participated by many youth volunteers and TMC staffers as Sikhong Sekmai Municipal Council organised similar cleanliness drive and tree plantation activities at Municipal Solid Waste Management located at Ward No 6 on Friday.

It may be mentioned that the Council had also conducted cleanliness and plogging drive at Ward No 3 on Thursday.

The fortnight-long programme will continue till October 2 in the district.

Lilong Municipal Council also organised a Swachhata Hi Seva rally from Lilong Chajing Chingkhong Eco Park to the Council's office on Friday.

The rally was flagged by Lilong Municipal Council chairperson L Lalmani, who also administered oath to the participants for keeping the surrounding neat and clean after the end of the rally.

Film actor Bala Hijam, who has been made the brand ambassador for the cleanliness campaign of the council, also took part in the rally.

As part of the Swachhata Hi Sewa campaign, Lilong (Thoubal) Municipal Council on Friday organised a special drive to clean water bodies at Lilong Leihaokhong ward no 3 on the theme 'Importance of water is known only by the thirsty persons'.

The drive was attended by Ward no 3 caretaker councillor Ajmal Nisa, Lilong (Thoubal) Municipal Council executive officer M Rajen Singh and local youth volunteers among others.
