Kak/Tbl, July 16 2023: More than 150 saplings were planted today during a plantation programme held at Angaan Ching Eco Park Kakching.
The tree plantation programme was organised by Alliance for Development Alternatives - Manipur (ADAM), Kakching in association with Sunday Eco Club as a part of 'Ching Kasi Umang Kansi' campaign of ADAM which began on July 2 last.
Vice-Chancellor of Dhanamanjuri University, Professor Nongmaithem Rajmuhon, Macha Chanu Kakching president Dr N Pramodini along with volunteers of Sanjoy Football Coaching Centre, Indrakumar Boxing Institute and Macha Chanu took part in today's plantation programme.
Speaking at the occasion, Professor N Rajmuhon lauded the initiatives of ADAM for safeguarding the environment and appealed to all to take part in such noble initiatives.
Thoubal
As a part of 74th Van Mahotsav, a tree plantation programme was held today at the surrounding areas of Thoubal Ningombam Mini Stadium which is under Thoubal Forest Division.
The plantation drive was jointly organised by members of Ningombam Young Pioneer Club (NYPC) and Iramdam Manipur Khangabok under the aegis of Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Thoubal Range.
Speaking at the occasion, DFO Thoubal Th Lokendro said that in connection with the 74th Van Mahotsav, plantation drives are being held at various places of Thoubal and Kakching Range under Thoubal Forest Division.
The plantation drive will continue till the end of July, he added.
Informing that a total of 2 lakh saplings have been arranged (one lakh each for Thoubal and Kakching Range) for free distribution, he appealed to the public to take these saplings and plant them at appropriate places.
The DFO also appealed to all to nurture these newly planted saplings for a healthier and greener environment and to help in maintaining the ecological balance.
