Imphal, May 21 2023: A memorial tree (Sana Khongnang) has been planted at Angaan Ching Eco-Park in Kakching in honour of the people who were killed in the chain of violence which erupted in Manipur on May 3, today.
During the programme which was participated by members of Youth and Students' Development Organisation (1979 matric batch of Kakching High School), Kakching Bazar Business Welfare Association, Kakching Keithel Apunba Ema Lup, Sanjoy Football Coaching Centre and officials of Kakching Range Forest Office, a Peace and Integrity Block was also opened at Angaan Ching Eco-Park.
Displaced People taking shelter at a relief camp set up at Kakching Higher Secondary School namely Kongkham David from Moreh and Ngangom Sunder from Churachandpur also took part in planting the memorial tree.
The programme was held as a part of regular Sunday Eco Club activities of the Alliance for Development Alternatives Manipur (ADAM), Kakching.
All the participants also planted a sapling each.
Speaking to media persons, ADAM secretary Surjit Kshetrimayum appealed to the Centre and the State Government to formulate a rehabilitation and resettlement policy of the displaced people at the earliest.
He further appealed to the Government to restore normalcy at the earliest.
