Bishnupur winds up Clean India 2.0 Campaign

Bishnupur, October 30 2022: The Clean India 2.0 Campaign in Bishnupur district concluded on Sunday with valedictory ceremony of the month-long campaign organised jointly by the Bishnupur district administration and Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Bishnupur in association with Sunusiphai Ideal Club on Sunday at Sunusiphai market shed.

Bishnupur deputy commissioner Lourembam Bikram attended the closing ceremony as chief guest while Sunusiphai Ideal Club vice president Haobijam Sumanta Singh was the functional president.

Thinungei Zilla Parishad zilla member Oinam Joychandra Singh, Bishnupur Zilla Parishad CEO L Manikanta Singh, BDO Moirang L Rishikanta and Samvardhinee Nyas, Manipur Prant co-convenor Indira Oinam were the guests of honour of the function.

In his welcome address, NYK Bishnupur deputy director Dr Salam Dhanachandra Singh said the district was able to collect about 4,360 kg of plastic waste as against the set target of 4,000 kg.

While opining that that the achievement was made possible due to active and voluntary participation of about 40 local clubs of the district, he urged the people to continue the noble deeds even beyond the campaign timeline.

Speaking on the occasion, DC Bikram maintained that Bishnupur needs to create good impressions on cleanliness as the district attracts a lot of tourists and VIPs.

While clarifying that solid waste management site cannot be equated to dumping site as assumed and alleged, the DC appealed to the public and CSOs to cooperate in the vision of the district administration in transforming the district to a Green Bishnupur.

Later, the deputy commissioner administered a unity pledge to the participants.

Village elders, residents, leaders of different local clubs, NYK volunteers among others attended the closing ceremony.
