Imphal, April 05 2022: A discussion on protection and conservation of forests and wildlife of the state was held at the conference hall of head office of Forest Department, Sanjenthong here on Tuesday afternoon.
The meeting was chaired by Forest, Environment and Climate Change minister Thongam Biswajit and attended by top officials of the Forest Department.
During the meeting, steps taken up by the Department till date for protection of forests and wildlife were reviewed, which was followed by a power point presentation by the officials.
The meeting also discussed the ongoing mass bamboo plantation work being taken up in the state.
The meeting further discussed measures to improve the wildlife Sanctuaries and national parks of the state along with protection and increasing the population of endangered wildlife species.
The effects of deforestation on the environment, climate change, global warming, and ways to stop the same including mass planting of trees were also discussed.
