Awareness prog on forest conservation, fire held

Bishnupur/Kakching, March 27 2022: Under Complementary Afforestation Management Planning Authority, Bishnupur Forest Division organised an awareness programme on the topic 'Conservation and protection of forest and prevention and control of forest fire' at Bi-jang village in Kangpokpi district on Sunday.

The awareness programme was attended by Bijang village chief Neikhohoi Kipgen, Bishnupur Range Forest Officer S Ratankumar Singh, Moirang Range Forest Officer H Geetchandra Sharma and Green Brigade Manipur founder E Premjit Singh as presidium members.

A similar awareness programme was also organised at Namthangjang village in Kangpokpi district with the village chief R Katangam attending as chief guest.

Speaking at the programme as functional president, Range Officer S Ratankumar pointed out that forest fire not only destroys the soil but also causes harm to the environment.

He urged all to conserve and protect forest to fight climate change and maintain ecological balance.

A one day awareness programme on forest fire prevention was also organised by range forest officer, Tengnoupal Athokpam Ranabir and his staff under the aegis of Tengnoupal Forest division at Wabaching village in Tengnoupal district on Saturday.

The awareness programme was organised under the sponsorship of State Compensatory Affor estation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA) for the year 2021 -2022.Deputy Conservator of Forests Tengnoupal Leishangthem Jeeceelee and Wabaching village chairman MC Samson attended the programme as chief guest and president respectively.
