Importance of water highlighted on World Water Day

Imphal, March 23 2022: Dr Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, Minister of State, Ministry of Education and External Affairs, Government of India has categorically stated that Jal Jeevan Mission is the need of the hour.

He made the above statement during the observance of World Water Day 2022 on March 22 jointly organised by the Department of Zoology, Manipur University (MU) and Apunba Imagi Machasing (AIMS) under the theme 'Understanding the Water Crisis in Manipur', said a press release by the Department.

The dignitaries and the resource persons underscored the causes for the water crisis in the State which has become a major concern and stressed on the need to formulate special policies and measures to solve the crisis.

The District Water and Sanitation Committee, Public Health Engineering Department, Government of Manipur in association with Kongba Maru Laiphamlen Apunba Semgat Lup (KMLASL) also organised 'World Water Day' observation at Kongba Maru Laiphamlen.

The College of Agriculture (COA) Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal too observed "World Water Day 2022" under the massive campaign of Govt of India as a part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav on March 22 at the College in Iroisemba.

The programme was celebrated under the chairmanship of Professor Indira Sarangthem, Dean, COA, CAU, Imphal, said a press release by the College.

The Chairman of the programme highlighted the importance of water, the problem of availability of safe irrigation water and drinking water and appealed to all to use water judiciously and protect the water resources from pollution.

Later a pledge was also taken by the attendees to save water resources, added the press release.

The World Water Day 2022 was also observed at the mini studio of Celin Digital.
