Thoubal, February 06 2022: Under the aegis of United Committee Manipur (UCM), Social Educational and Cultural Development Organisation (SECDO), Thoubal Kshetri Leikai organised a one-day awareness programme for farmers on 'Management of Winter Crops (Pre and Post-Harvest)' at SEDCO ground on Sunday.
The awareness programme which was organised under the motto 'Chinjakta Mipal Tangdaba'- Self-reliance on food stock - was attended by UCM president Joychandra Konthoujam, secretary Ng Dev Meitei, SEDCO president Nirigombam Borojaoba and IPSA Thoubal Branch president Ak Bishwajit as presidium members.
Dr W Jiten of Thoubal KVK, who attended as resource person of the programme, briefed the attendees and also interacted with the farmers.
Later as part of the programme, Urea fertiliser was distributed to around 50 farmers.
Speaking on the occasion, Joychandra urged the public to extend support to the farmers to realise the self-reliance goal in food and to successfully implement the central government's schemes and programmes effectively.
He also contended that the progress and effectiveness of the Centre-funded programmes and schemes exists only in paperwork.
