Foundation laid for water supply scheme

Imphal, December 29 2021: A foundation stone laying ceremony of water supply scheme at Gelnel village in Kangpokpi district was carried out on Wednesday as a part of "Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav".

According to PRO (Defence), Gelnel village authority had approached the 44 Assam Rifles of 22 Sector/IGAR (East) for construction of water supply scheme, since the area faces scarcity of water especially during summer and dry season.

Understanding the hardships faced by the villagers the Battalion undertook the challenge of providing clean drinking water to the villagers.

The ceremony Was organised with the blessings of the lord for early completion of the task.

Company commander Gelnel COB along with village Church pastor, headman and chairman performed special prayers.

The pastor held special prayer session for smooth and hindrance free execution of the project as a Jan Baghidhari between locals and Assam Rifles.

The village chairman of Gelnel expressed happiness over the water supply project being undertaken by the Unit.

He marked the day as a memorable one for the people of Gelnel village and its neighbouring village, the release added.
