Imphal, December 17 2021: A farmers outreach programme on natural farming was held as part of Pre Vibrant Gujarat Summit at Anand Agricultural University, Gujarat on December 16 .
The faculties, scientists and students of College of Agriculture (COA), Iroisemba, Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal also participated virtually in the said programme, said a press note issued by COA, CAU, Imphal.
Around three lakh farmers attended the programme virtually which was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Addressing the gathering virtually, the Prime Minister stressed on the need to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides and start practicing organic or natural farming so as to make India a hub for natural farming.
He also highlighted the role of ICAR in spreading awareness and technologies of natural farming to the Indian farmers.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor of Gujarat, Acharya Devvrat emphasized on the importance of natural farming and shared his valuable experience and various technologies of natural farming.
At the College of Agriculture, CAU, Imphal, the whole session was telecasted for two hours and around 100 faculty members including Dean of COA, CAU, Imphal Professor Indira Sarangthem, AICRP scientists and students participated in the programme, added the press note.
