Bishnupur, December 26 2021: Union Minister for Labour, Environment and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav has assured that Loktak Lake would be developed as one of the most enchanting and magnificent lakes of the world.

He was speaking at a mass gathering held at Kha Potsangbam today.

The gathering was listening to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 84th Mann Ki Baat.

Bhupender Yadav said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's objective is not restricted to ruling the country but he is determined to make India a leading country in different sectors.

Noting that Narendra Modi was talking about cleanliness and hygiene in today's Mann Ki Baat, Bhupender Yadav said that the concept of cleanliness and hygiene should not be confined to one's family or homestead but must encompass one's community.

The Union Environment and Climate Change Minister announced that necessary steps would be initiated to ban single use plastics across the country from 2022 .

It is not right to abandon all the community traditions and customs in the name of modernisation.

Many traditional practices are more environment friendly as compared to modern practices, Bhupender Yadav remarked.

He also hailed the Manipuri tradition of using banana leaves at community feasts.

Apart from Bhupender Yadav, the gathering organised by BJP Bishnupur Mandal was also participated by BJP National spokesperson (Manipur in-charge) Dr Sambit Patra, Oinam AC MLA L Radhakishore, Moirang AC MLA P Saratchandra, ex-MLA and BJP Manipur Pradesh core committee member Govindas Konthoujam, BJP Manipur Pradesh vice-presidents Chidananda, L Minabanta and general secretary P Premananda Meitei.

Later, Bhupender Yadav kicked off the election campaign of ex-MLA Govindas Konthoujam at the latter's residence.

Speaking to media persons, Govindas exuded confidence that high level leaders of BJP would definitely give him the party ticket to fight the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election.

He claimed that he joined BJP as per the wishes of the masses.
