Imphal, December 09 2021: Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited (MSPDCL) has launched the National Energy Conservation Week observance along with a cycle rally on Thursday.
The rally carrying the message of reducing consumption of fossil fuel generated energy was flagged off from the TMSPDCL office at Secure Office Complex and culminated at Malom Oil Depot.
At the launch event, secretary (power) Dr Sailesh Kumar Chourasia emphasised on the importance of reducing consumption of energy generated from fossil fuel.
Consumption of petroleum products is increasing substantially Over the years but these types of fuel will deplete in due course of time.
At the same time, high rate of consuming fossil fuel pollutes the environment and contributes in climate change and global warming, he said while encouraging the public to shift to solar energy as much as possible.
He also appealed to the public to promote using cycles to reduce petroleum fuel consumption.
On the other hand, Loktak Power Station of National Hydro Power Corporation (NHPC) Limited organised a state level painting competition on energy conservation at Hotel Imphal on Thursday.
Kh Premraj of DAV Public School, Th Jeshina of RK Sanatombi Devi Vidyalaya and Phidam Sinam of Ram Krishna Mission respectively bagged the top three positions in category A of the competition.
The top three positions in category B were won by Glory Gurumayum, Brainish Ch, both of Nirmalabas High School and Lanleiba Sinam of Ram Krishna Mission respectively.
The top three winners in both categories were awarded cash prize of Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively along with certificates.
They will represent the state in the national level competition.
Consolation prizes of Rs 75Q0 along with certificates were also distributed to 10 contestants in each category.
