Dr V Kurien remembered on National Milk Day

Imphal, November 26 2021: Manipur Milk Producers' Co-operative Union Limited observed the 100th birth anniversary of late Dr Verghese Kurien, popularly known as 'Father of white revolution', who chalked out the road-map for sufficient production of milk and milk products in the country, as National Milk Day at farmers' training hall of the directorate of veterinary, Sanjenthong here on Friday.

The observance function was attended by director (veterinary & animal husbandry) Dr Ch Nandakishore as chief guest, union chairman Ch Ramananda as president and Cooperative Societies of Manipur deputy registrar O Jiten as guest of honour.

Union's managing director and joint director (veterinary & animal husbandry) Dr Ng Ibotombi was also present at the event, during which board of directors of the cooperative union, Dr Ch Nandakishore recalled how Dr Verghese Kurien established a network of milk farmers by establishing Anand Milk Union in Gujarat state and expanded his system of milk production and delivery throughout the country successfully.

Dr Ng Ibotombi also recalled how Dr Verghese Kurien initiated white revolution in the country to provide nutritional security to people.
