Drive against poaching of migratory birds conducted

Thoubal, November 18 2021: Thoubal and Kakching Forest Range Office staffers along with Pallel BO Md Sallauddin, deputy rangers Th Jonsan, M Biren and N Brojen conducted a special drive at Lousipat under Thoubal Forest Division on Thursday.

Speaking to media persons, Md Sallaodin informed that the special drive was conducted to save wild birds particularly migratory birds from those who poach birds using nets and traps.

The staffers searched the farm huts in Lousipat upon receiving information that some people are catching mi gratory birds using nets, traps and guns in early morning.

However, no tools used in catching birds were found during the drive, he informed.

While appealing to the people especially those residing near the wetlands to stop catching and killing migratory birds, he urged to contact forest department if anyone was found trapping and killing wild birds.
