CM mulls revival of LLI, organic manure from Loktak

Imphal, November 16 2021: Chief Minister N Biren said that the government is in the process of reviving the Loktak Lift Irrigation project and produce organic manure from the biomass (Phumdi) of the lake.

Attending a one-day political convention organised by BJP Oinam Mandal at Oinam Awang Rural playground on Tuesday, Biren said that the public are well aware of the initiatives taken up by his government to bring development and peace in the state.

He mentioned about Rs 23 crore sanctioned for improving water supply in Oinam assembly constituency.

He also claimed that police-public relationship has improved significantly under the BJP government with the state turning towards peace in the last four and half years.

The CM also spoke on different schemes such as CMHT, GTV, GTH, LPG connection under PMUY and Startup scheme, and assured of improving road connectivity and power supply in the state.

As part of the efforts to protect Loktak Lake, the government is in the process of producing organic manure from the biomass of the lake under Loktak Livelihood Mission.

He also said that the government will revive Loktak Lift Irrigation.

Hill-valley unity has strengthened under BJP rule, he added.

Works minister Th Biswajit, who attended as guest of honour, said that BJP stands for the poor people unlike Congress that suppresses the marginalised section of the society.

The DoNER Ministry was set up by Atal Bihari Vajpayee specifically to address developmental shortcoming in the northeast, he said.

He also asserted that success of the BJP government in developing the Covid vaccines made it possible for such public gathering, and expressed confidence that BJP will retain power in the 2022 election.

BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda, who presided over the event, said that the BJP government is doing everything to bring peace and development in the state, which the Congress government could not do in 15 years of its rule.

She also urged the public to study the initiatives taken up by the BJP government for youth and women.

Education minister S Rajen, MPCB & KVIB chairman Oinam MLA L Radhakishor, BJP Manipur Pradesh vice-president and Bishnupur in-charge L Meenabanta, Bishnupur District president RK Bimola and Oinam Mandal president Th Mangi also attended the convention as the presidium members.
