Imphal, November 08 2021: A 5 day faculty development programme on 'Enhancement in Agricultural Research and Education for the faculty of Central Agricultural University (CAU) Imphal' was inaugurated at CAU Headquarters, Lamphelpat today.
The programme has been organised by Directorate of Extension Education, CAU Imphal under the sponsorship of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) National Academy of Agricultural Research Management, Rajendra Nagar, Hyderabad.
Speaking as the chief guest of the occasion, Vice Chancellor of CAU Imphal, Dr Anupam Mishra said that the objectives of the development programme is to enhance teaching, research, professionalism, administrative comprehensive to bring in overall improvement of the educational environment.
He stressed on the importance of new teaching methodologies to enhance the performance and highlighted on the need of skill development.
Hence CAU has organised the faculty development programme where in topics on agriculture and allied activities and renowned professors from reputed institutions and university will speak on various topics.
Speaking about the programme, Director of Extension Education, CAU, Imphal, Professor Ph Ranjit Sharma said that around 43 participants from 13 constituent colleges, Krishi Vigyan Kendras, Multi Testing Centres and Vocational Training Centres (MTTC & VTC) of CAU Imphal are attending the said programme.
Director of Research Central Agricultural University Imphal, Dr S Basanta Singh enumerated the changes and improvement brought under the leadership of the incumbent VC of CAU Imphal.
He stated that measures have been initiated to implement E-administration in the whole varsity.
Academic management system, financial management system and establishment management system have already been implemented and new method of teachings will be introduced soon, he added.
He further informed that plans are in progress to collaborate with foreign neighbouring countries and Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) have been signed with more than 45 national institutes.
Also steps are being taken up to sign MoUs with universities of Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Taiwan as well, he added.
Director of ICAR-NAARM, Hyderabad, Dr Ch Srinivasa Rao stressed on the importance of scientific communication which is of major relevance in research works.
He further emphasized on focusing to work for the welfare of farmers across the country.
Principal scientist and programme director ICAR-NAARM Hyderabad, Dr M Balakrishnan and Deputy Director of Extension Education CAU Imphal, Dr Dipak Nath also attended today's programme.
