Imphal, November 02 2021: Manipuri Students Federation (MSF) has appealed to the Government to fulfil the requirements of Keirak Buffalo Farm at the earliest which is in a deplorable condition.

MSF in a press release informed that a team of MSF led by the General Secretary and Environment & Ecology Affairs Secretary of MSF, Head Office went to Keirak Buffalo Farm at Kakching district for the second time to take stock of the situation of the farm today.

The team found the farm which was established in 1984 under the aegis of North Eastern Council in a pitiable state with no proper manpower and equipment for the proper maintenance of the farm.

MSF maintained that in the initial years, there were around 100 buffaloes however the situation worsened over the past few years as the number of buffaloes is declining due to lack of care and other essentials for the smooth functioning of the farm.

It may be noted that the farm has been maintained by the Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Government of Manipur since 2007 .

Expressing concern over the declining numbers of buffaloes in the farm, MSF has urged the State Government to look into the pitiable condition of the farm at the earliest and to provide the requirements accordingly.
