Mulberry tree plantation, rearing items distributed

Kakching, November 02 2021: District sericulture office, Chandel distributed materials for plantation of mulberry tree and mulberry rearing appliances and equipment to sericulture farmers of Chandel district on Tuesday.

The materials, appliances and machines were distributed to 30 select mulberry farmers of the district under Integrated Sericulture Development Project (ISDP) 2016-2017 during a function held at mini secretariat complex, Chandel.

The distribution function was attended by deputy director (sericulture) Ch Harendra as chief guest, District Sericulture Officer Amang Mangte as president and inspector vehicle in-charge of sericulture department S Priyokanta as guest of honour.

District Sericulture Office inspector (sericulture) cum nodal officer MIS/ISDP Hb Ruwngthung Anal and inspector (sericulture) Ps Samson and other staff of the department also attended the function.

In his speech, Ch Harendra said that rearing appliances and equipment distributed on Tuesday were under Integrated Sericulture Development Project (ISDP) for the year 2016-2017 but could not be distributed timely due to COVID-19 pandemic.

He also appealed to sericulture farmers of Chandel district to work collectively to get necessary payment and develop the sector in the district.

Meanwhile District Sericulture Officer Amang Mangte said that production of cocoon is important for success of sericulture project and there is no meaning of investing huge money for the project if there is no cocoon production.

He then appealed to farmers to work collectively to produce cocoon with proper utilisation of materials, equipment and machines distributed on Tuesday.
