Imphal, November 01 2021: Chief minister N Biren Singh has said that elected leaders should treat every individual, group and community without any discrimination so that there is fairness in providing opportunity and no disparity in delivering benefits of welfare schemes and development.
Addressing the gathering at the inauguration of sports gallery at Lilong Arapti Mapal ground cum one-day political conference of BJP on Monday, N Biren said his government is for the people and it will always try its level best to translate aspirations and wishes of the people into action.
Noting that formation of Urup Arapti Gram Panchayat is a long-standing demand of the people, the chief minister declared that the state government would fulfil it at the earliest after discussing the matter in the state cabinet.
Stressing the need for protecting agricultural land and playground, the chief minister said that the state would never be able to make itself self-sufficient in food production if there is no agricultural land.
He also said that almost all the players, who have brought laurels to the state and the country, grew up playing at local playgrounds and as such these playgrounds play significant part in producing champion players.
About the Covid-19 pandemic, the chief minister said that it is not yet over in the state though the number of positive cases has significantly come down and hence people should still be careful and follow the prescribed SOPs.
As vaccination is the only means to keep the virus at bay, people who are yet to be vaccinated should get their jab at the earliest, he said and added that there is still need to speed up vaccination rate in hill districts.
Informing that more than 106 crore doses have been administered in the country so far, the chief minister said the nation should appreciate Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making this milestone possible and leading the country in its fight against the pandemic.
In Manipur as well, the chief minister said, all the ministers, MLAs and officials joined hands in fighting the virus as a team.
He also thanked the public for extending co-operation to the Government in tackling the pandemic.
Regarding hike in fuel oil price, the chief minister said that rise in the global crude oil price has direct impact on country's fuel price.
However, the Central government must be trying to find out a solution to keep the price stable and affordable to the public.
The inauguration cum political conference organised by BJP Keirao Mandal in coordination with Arapti Development Committee, Arapti-Urup Panchayat Demand Committee and Salaicha Pibarel Punsi Marup was also attended by State Planning Board deputy chairman and Keirao MLA L Rameshwor Meetei, Keirao BJP Mandal president H Rajnikanta, BJP Minority Morcha national general secretary Sahid Ibrahim, Tmphal East BJP president P Dicember,' BJP Minority Morcha president Anwar Hussain, Chanam Sandrok FP pradhan Sundar and other party leaders.
In his speech at the event, L Rameshwor Meetei said the sports gallery was constructed with Rs 1.5 crore fund from the state government and highlighted that since he became an MLA many development projects like construction of community halls, Meira Shang, club, gym, hospital, girls' hostels and roads have been executed.
During the past 10 years, NFSA rice were distributed for only 21 months but every citizen of the constituency is now getting rice under NFSA every month, he said.
