Bishnupur, October 31 2021: The month-long Clean India Campaign organised by Bishnupur district administration in coordination with Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Bishnupur and Rising Club, Ngaikhong Khullen concluded on Sunday at Ngaikhong Khullen Mamang bazar mandop.
The closing ceremony of the campaign was attended by Oinam MLA L Radhakishor as chief guest, Rising Club president L Rajen Singh as functional president while Bishnupur DC Ranjan Yum nam, Ngaikhong Khullen pradhan M Bala Devi, ADC Bishnupur H Bobby Sharma and NYK Bishnupur deputy director Dr Salam Dhana Singh were guests of honour.
Delivering the key note address, Dr Salam Dhana said that cleanliness drive under Clean India Campaign is being carried out in 744 districts of India.
Altogether 24 GPs and six Municipal Councils of Bishnupur district are initiating the campaign with NYK and local volunteers with collection of single use plastics and disposal of the same at the right place.
In his speech, MLA Radhakishor said that human beings are on the verge of extinction from the planet due to ever depleting Ozone layer.
Though the National Green Tribunal enacted several laws to prevent pollution, many birds, trees and animals have gone extinct now, he pointed out, while adding that existence of human beings will be hard if we fail to protect environment.
According to Radhakishor, formation of Environmental Plan Committee in 16 districts of Manipur had completed and committee for testing Noise, Air and Water pollution willbe formed soon in all districts as also waste treatment plant in every district.
Meanwhile, DC Ranjan in formed that around 9580 kg of single use plastics have been collected in Bishnupur district and this has been possible due to enthusiastic participation of volunteers of local clubs and organisations.
At the end of the ceremony, volunteers and participants took the pledge 'Catch The Rain Campaign, Where It Falls, When It Falls' while Rising Club launched its campaign 'Save River' .
