Imphal, October 28 2021: Thiyam Nilamani, former Headmaster of Konsam Thongam Popular Primary School, Khurai distributed solar lamps, study materials, face masks, sanitizer and 3kg rice to students of the Khurai Popular High School.
Thiyam Nilamani has been working at the Khurai Popular High School as a Hindi teacher after his previous school was amalgamated with Khurai Popular High School under 'School Fagathansi Mission', said a statement issued by the Kongpal Students' Welfare Club.
The lamps were handed over to the school by ZEO, Zone II and DC Imphal East on March 30, 2021 but were not distributed due to the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, added the statement.
The other items including 3 kg of rice, masks and other items were distributed by Thiyam Nilamani from his own pockets to more than 60 students of the school living below poverty line.
Thiyam Nilamani Singh had already been awarded 'District-Teacher Award'; Nation Builder Award; COVID-19 National Corona Award-2021 etc conferred by ZEO Imphal East, Rotary Club and Global Corona Warrior Award Committee, India respectively for his selfless work for the welfare of the students, added the statement.
