CM stresses on importance of human resources

Imphal, October 28 2021: Chief Minister N Biren Singh has said that the State Government's priority is to strengthen human resources in Manipur.

He said this during a scholarship distribution programme of pre-matric and post-matric for OBCs, SCs and Economically Backward Classes students at Chief Minister's Secretariat today.

Speaking at the occasion, N Biren Singh said that according to the School Education Quality Index released by NITI Aayog, Manipur has ranked above all the smaller States in the country.

He mentioned that many initiatives and schemes have been launched to support young and talented people of the State, N Biren said that the State Government has launched Chief Minister's Scholarship Scheme for Civil Services aspirants considering the hardships being faced by the students belonging to economically backward families.

The Chief Minister also stated the Central Government implemented the pre and post matric scholarship schemes for OBCs, SCs and Economically Backward Classes students through 'Online Scholarship Management System (OSMS) in 2018-19 .

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Government has introduced the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system to curb corruption while disbursing funds to beneficiaries, the CM said and mentioned that the scholarship amounts are transferred through DBT.

N Biren informed that a total of Rs 23,01,05,164 has been disbursed to the respective bank accounts of 34,995 students for 2019-20 (2nd phase) and 2020-21 today.

Out of the total amount, Rs 1,91,62,624 has been transferred to 2,335 students under OBC post-matric 2019-20 (2nd phase), Rs 14,14,68,710 to 22,580 students under OBC post-matric 2020-21, Rs 82,32,500 to 3,499 students under OBC pre-matric 2020-21, Rs 17,57,250 to 485 students under SC pre-matric 2020-21, Rs 5,94,84,080 to 6,096 students under SC post-matric 2020-21.The Chief Minister also handed over the scholarships to some selected students during the function.

Secretary to Chief Minister Ningthoujam Geoffrey, Director (MOBC) Ng Bhogendro, Bank officials, teachers and students were present during the function.
