Thoubal, October 27 2021: In line with the observation of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, a maintenance drive for PMGSY roads constructed in Thoubal district under Manipur State Rural Roads Development Agency was conducted on Wednesday.
The inspection of the roads constructed under National Rural Infrastructure Development Agency, Ministry of Rural Development was carried out by RED/MSRRDA, PIU-II Thoubal District.
Rural Engineering Department, Nodal Maintenance Officer and Additional Chief Engineer, Kh Rajen Singh led the inspection participated by officials and media persons.
Speaking to media persons, Kh Rajen Singh stated that the 5 years maintenance routine inspection was carried out as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav while adding that during the financial year 2021-22, 78 roads (379.5 Km) would be covered out of the total 461 DLP roads in the State.

During the Nationwide Maintenance drive various activities including Pothole Free roads- repair of defects/potholes on roads, maintenance of shoulder, cleaning of vegetation, maintenance and cleaning of cross drainage structures, maintenance of parapets, road markings and traffic signage and information boards, maintenance of PMGSY logo and information boards, would be carried out, he added.
He also mentioned that in addition to all the activities, awareness programmes on PMGSY would also be conducted in association with various stakeholders, chief engineers, CEOs, Project Implementation Units, MPs, MLAs, PRIs, etc at the state level.
Besides, the roads inspected during the drive are NH-39 to Kairembi (6 Km), package no MN0-840; Wangbal to Louremba (10 Km), package no MN0-877 and Heirok to Phundrei (13.50 Km), package no MN0-862.The Nodal Maintenance Officer further lauded the contractors for quality construction work and mentioned that similar inspections of PMGSY roads would be conducted in other parts of the State.
Rural Engineering Department, Superintendent Engineer Maintenance, Th Abo Meitei; Superintendent Engineer-III Thoubal, L Maipak; RED/MSRRDA PIU-II Thoubal District Executive Engineer, T Shivadutta Singh; Assistant Engineer, N Ibungo Singh, Section Officers N Aniruddh Singh and M Bonesh Singh along with other staff also took part in the inspection.
