Security meet held, saplings planted

Imphal, October 25 2021: Churachandpur Battalion of IGAR (S) organised a security meet cum interactive session with village chiefs & village authorities of Damdei village in Pherzawl district on Monday to build synergy with the village authorities and sensitise them on prevailing security situation and various measures being taken by Assam Rifles in maintaining the peace and tranquillity in the area.

In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that the participants were also briefed on various measures adopted by Assam Rifles to maintain strict vigil against UGs and illegal activities along with encouraging them to take Covid jab in their respective areas.

An interaction with students was also carried out followed by a tree plantation.

A total of 7 village chiefs & 47 students of Damdei village participated in the drive, it added.

Meanwhile, Somsai Battalion of IGAR (S) conducted a tree plantation drive at Assam Rifles School campus and surrounding areas of Somsai location in Ukhrul district on Monday.

The drive was organised to promote 'Go Green Initiative' and spread awareness about climate change and global warming amongst the school students, said the PRO in another release.

During the drive, growing environmental concerns and ways to prevent it by tree plantation were discussed.

In all eight teachers, 30 children and 54 troops participated in the event and the children were also educated about the importance of trees in maintaining the balance of ecological balance, it added.
