Kakching, October 01 2021: Chandel district deputy commissioner Rajkumar Mayanglambam has announced ban of usage of bottles made from thin plastic in DC Chandel Office complex with immediate effect in due consideration of its the harmful effect on the environment.
Speaking as chief guest during launch of a month-long Clean India Campaign in Chandel district as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahptsav organised jointly by Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Chandel and the district administration on Friday, he also appealed to other offices in Mini Secretariat Complex, Chandel to follow suit.
The DC also urged the public to stop using disposable glasses and other single use plastic items in their daily life and cautioned staff and visitors to abandon the habit of spitting betel (Kwa) and chewing tobacco juice.
The launch programme held at DC Chandel conference hall was also attended by Autonomous District Council Chandel chief executive officer Kshetrimayum Siddarth, NYK Chandel district youth officer Ng Rameson Monsang, district level officials, 18 Assam Rifles, Naga Chiefs Association Chandel and other CSOs and NYK Chandel volunteers.
During the event, the DC also launched a T-shirt in connection with the Clean India Campaign.
Meanwhile, Bishnupur district administration and NYK Bishnupur launched Clean India Campaign in Bishnupur district on Friday.
The function held at DC Bishnupur conference hall was attended by additional district magistrate H Bobby Sharma, DLCICC Bishnupur deputy director/member secretary Dr Dhanachandra Salam, SDO Bishnupur, SDO Nambol, SDO Moirang and municipal councils' executive officers and members of 20 youth clubs.
