Bpr/Kak/Kpi/Non/Spi/Tbl/Tml, October 02 2021: As observed across the country, the 152nd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi was also celebrated in the State today by various District Administrations, Departments and organisations.
BISHNUPUR
Joining with the rest of the country, the District Administration Bishnupur along with the various departments in the district observed National Cleanliness Day in their respective office premises today.
Speaking to media persons, Bishnupur ADC, H Bobby Sharma said that a clean environment promotes good health and encouraged all to consider cleanliness as a lifelong pursuit rather than perceiving it as a one-off responsibility only.
H Bobby Sharma also mentioned that under the aegis of the District Administration, a month-long 'Clean India' campaign organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Bishnupur was launched yesterday at the Conference Hall of Mini Secretariat complex.
During this month-long campaign, all single-use plastics from different villages and municipalities will be collected and disposed off appropriately, he stated.

'Gandhi Jayanti 2021' observed across the State
KAKCHING
As part of National Cleanliness Day observed on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, various police stations of Kakching district conducted cleanliness drives in and around their respective areas.
The cleanliness drives would be a regular feature in this month as part of nationwide Clean India programme being observed throughout the month.
KANGPOKPI
On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, a mass cleanliness drive was conducted this morning at Kangpokpi town under the aegis of Kangpokpi Town Committee, Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organization, Kangpokpi Youth Union, and Kangpokpi Police.
Moreover, the Ngamthang Youth Team (NYT) for Saitu AC in collaboration with the Youth Club of Tamuyon Khullen, Ningthoupham, Mayangkhang, Mayangkhang Khunou also organized a cleanliness drive to marked the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi under the theme 'Keep Your Village Clean and Green' today.
NONEY
On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, a combined team of SP Noney; Additional SP; Noney PS OC team, PHED Noney Division team, Longmai Bazar Board, Longmai Bazar Youth Club & Longmai Nature Club jointly conducted mass social service programme at Longmai Noney District HQ, Bazar and surrounding area.
PLVs of Noney Legal Aid Clinic assisted the social work.
Similar social services were also carried out by Villages Authorities, Churches, Youth Clubs and Ward members at their respective places.
SENAPATI
District Administration Senapati also observed National Cleanliness Day on Saturday, led by Mahesh Chaudhari, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Senapati.
Social services were also conducted in and around the respective Government offices and Senapati Town.
The NSS of Don Bosco College, Maram and Don Bosco Hr Secondary, Maram under the guidance of Program Officers John Britto, Sr Ethel FMA, Gaanpatrei Kamei and Sr Sonal Devendrabhai Vaghela CCV also organised cleanliness drive, plog run and Cyclothon.
Volunteers carried out the cleanliness drive at Maram Centre, adopted village and School campus.
The plog run and Cyclothon was organised from Maram Centre.
Likewise, Asufii Christian Institute(ACI), NSS also observed Gandhi Jayanti by carrying out Fit India Freedom Run and a social cleaning drive for Clean India Campaign.
The cleaning drive was conducted at four different locations, Chowainu village, led by Ng Mary Saza PO NSS Unit-I, Punanamei village, led by Eloziia, NSS PO NSS Unit-II, Mao Gate Island and surroundings led by KaihriiLosii, PO NSS Unit-III, Makhel and Shajouba Historical Places led by Pfokhrelo Hriizia, NSS volunteer.
The ACI, NSS Fit India Freedom Run started off from Asufii NSF park to Chowainu village, Chowainu village to ACI campus and from Punanamei St Mary's Church to Punanamei local ground.
TAMENGLONG
On the 152th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Magotsav, 44 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 22 Sector/IGAR (East) organised a one day 'Swatchta Diwas' in various parts of Tamenglong district today.
The Unit jawans joined hands with students of Scouts & Guides from the town to start a cleanliness drive around Mini Stadium, Tamenglong.
A total of 3500 saplings of Hibiscus, Amal and other local plants were also planted.
THOUBAL
To commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, a 'Social Service (Clean India) cum Fit India Plog Run' was organised at District Hospital Thoubal by District Health Society Thoubal and Nehru Yuva Kendra Thoubal in collaboration with NSS Waikhom Mani College Thoubal, NSS YK College Thoubal & NCC Khangabok Hr Sec School Thoubal on Saturday.
A total of 150 volunteers of NYKS, NSS & NCC, police personnel and medical staff took part in the cleanliness drive.
A Clean India Swachhta Pledge was also taken with the participants after the social service programme.
The drive was attended by Dr Ch Memcha Devi, Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Thoubal, Ch Basanta Singh, District Programme Manager, National Health Mission Thoubal, Michael T Mate, District Youth Officer, NYK Thoubal, P Robinson Singh, NSS PO, Asst Professor, Waikhom Mani Girls College Thoubal, L Sanahal Singh, NSS PO, Asst Professor, YK College Thoubal and Chaosana Singh, NCC Officer, Khangabok Higher Secondary School Thoubal.
NSS Unit 1,2 & 3 in association with Lilong Haoreibi College Alumni Association and under the supervision of Youth Affairs & Sports Department, Government of Manipur organised a tree plantation cum cleanliness drive on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
