Freedom run held, cleanliness drives conducted

Imphal, October 02 2021: Group Centre CRPF Langjing organised 51km virtual run as part of "CRPF Fit India Freedom Run 2.0" on Saturday.

According to a CRPF release, the Run was flagged off from CRPF Parade Ground and with IGP Mahabir Singh Shekhawat, GC Langjing DIG Madan Kumar, Arjuna awardee L Sarita Devi (boxer), Olympian Sushila Likmabam (Judoka), all officers, all subordinate officers, jawans and their family members participated in the run.

Speaking on the occasion, IGP Mahabir Singh encouraged and emphasized all officers, all subordinate officers, jawans and their family members of the campus and advised them for running daily to keep themselves fit and healthy.

The IGP further said that being fit is the tradition of CRPF and we have a history in the sports world.

The force has in its ranks one Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, two Padmashree and 16 Arjuna awardees.

He thanked all the officers, subordinate officers and personnel for their active participation in the Fit India Freedom Run 2.0.On the other-hand, 182 Bn BSF Koirengei conducted Swaskshta Abhiyan (cleanliness drive) under the supervision of DIG BSF, SHQ Manipur Dinesh Singh Rawat on Saturday in commemoration of the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi (Gandhi Jayanti).

During the drive, Dinesh Singh along with commandant of 182 Battalion BSF Nitin Gupta led a combined team of BSF Officers and Troops of the Campus in cleaning all clogged drainages, wild grasses, garbage littered around in the general area of Koirengei along the National Highways 02 in front of the BSF Campus and High Court areas.

The event was organised as a part of "Swachhata Bharat Abhiyan" and also as an observance of Gandhi Jayanti.

To commemorate the birth anniversary of National Heroes, Assam Rifles units under IGAR (South) organised cleanliness drives to promote Swachh Bharat Abhiyan at various locations across the state on Saturday.

According to PRO IGAR (S), the cleanliness drive was not only an effort to clean the surroundings but was also an endeavour to motivate and encourage the locals to keep their surroundings clean and litter-free.

As part of the commemorative events, tree plantation drives and Fit India Freedom Run were also organised along with civil administration and local populace.
