Noney, October 02 2021: In connection with the nationwide celebration of Mahatma Gandhi's birthday or Gandhi Jayanti, district administration and non-governmentai organisations conducted mass cleanliness drives and competitions at various locations in the district on Satruday.
Longmai Bazar Board along with Noney District Police, Longmai Nature Club and Longmai Bazar Youth Club conducted mass cleanliness drive at Longmai Bazar area while a similar campaign was held at DC office complex.
Various youth clubs, NGOs and different churches also organised the drive in their respective places.
Gandhi Jayanti was also observed by District Legal Services Authority, Tamenglong in collaboration of IPC Noney at Peaceland Upper Primary School, Noney during which the school campus was sanitised.
As a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and Legal Services Week (PAN India Awareness & Outreach Pro gramme), an open painting competition was also held at the school premises.
The first prize was bagged by Chunmeilu Kamei and 2nd & 3rd by Kahimgan Kamei and Kadangong Kamei respectively.
Meanwhile, Noney Battalion Assam'Rifles of 22 Sector/Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) organised a cleanliness drive at Taobam village, Noney district to promote "Swatchh Bharat Mission" and motivate the local to take initiative to keep the surrounding areas neat and clean and to promote health and sanitation in the villages.
The villagers were also educated about COVID appropriate behaviour by maintaining social distancing, washing of hands regularly, wearing of masks and importance of COVID vaccination.
