Thoubal, October 02 2021: In connection with the celebration of 52nd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi or Gandhi Jayanti, cleanliness drives were conducted at different places and premises across Thoubal district on Saturday.
Wangkhem Block Congress Committee and Youth Congress jointly organised cleanliness drives at Yairipok Keithel, Babu bazar and Thoubal Keithel as part of the celebration.
Wangkhem MLA K Meghachandra, who also took part in these cleanliness drives, told media persons that the cleanliness drives were conducted to realise the dream of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi who wanted to have a clean country.
He then appealed to people to work towards achieving the dream of Mahatma Gandhi by promoting the habit of cleanliness at public places and localities.
On the other hand, members and volunteers of Thoubal Kshetri Leikai Rising Club in coordination with BJP intending candidate for 31-Thoubal AC Konsam Michael conducted cleanliness drive at Thoubal Kshetri Leikai Haotabi Lampak.
The cleanliness drive was conducted as part of Seva Aur Samarpan campaign of BJP being launched in connection with the 71st birthday celebration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Gandhi Jayanti.
Meanwhile, officials and staff of different departments under district administration of Thoubal organised social service camps at their respective office complexes on Saturday.
At Thoubal mini secretariat complex, DC Ahanthem Subhas and ADM Thoubal B Lokeswor Sharma led the social service camp.
Thoubal Municipal Council also conducted social service camp at Thoubal Keithel and its surrounding areas.
