Churachandpur, September 25 2021: As part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan campaign, the District Administration Churachandpur organised a 'Marathon Race' on the theme, "Run against drugs and drug abuse" today at Singngat Sub-divisional headquarters.
The anti-drug run was flagged off at 7 a.m by Additional DC Churachandpur, Thangboi Gangte.
The run commenced from Muallum village for the male sprinters and ended at the SDO Office Singngat.
For the female athletes, it began at S Haijang village.
Runners raised slogans for drug free society and carried banners and placards during the Marathon run.
Close to 200 persons took part in the run.
It may be mentioned that S Phungminthang of Mualnuam bagged the first position in the male category.
Anti-drug 'Marathon' held at Singngat
He was trailed by Suanzamuan of Maukot and Khuplamlun of Chingmang Veng, Zomi Colony.
Chingngaihmuan of Siloam Veng, Bungmual led the female category while Grace Chingngaihlian of Vengnuam, New Lamka and Esther Chingngaihlun of Vengnuam, Singngat bagged the second and third positions.
Six runners from the male category and seven from the female category were also awarded a consolation prize each.
All the runners were given t-shirts and certificates.
Addressing the culminating event at Singngat SDO office, the Additional DC said that the goal of the campaign was to mobilize support and to inspire people to act against drug abuse and drug trafficking.
It is a way to encourage young people to put their health first and never take support of drugs as a solution to their problems, he added.
Jameson Sehlal Hangshing, the SDO of Singngat also appealed to the youth to not consume drugs and stay healthy and stated that drug addiction is ruining society and youths, not just financially, physically and mentally but spiritual as well.
