Imphal, September 25 2021: A 3 day on-farm skill development training programme for fish farmers of Chandel district was conducted at Kaziphung, Chandel from September 23-25 under Tribal Sub Plan organised by ICAR- Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Kolkata Centre in collaboration with Fisheries Department, Government of Manipur.
A press release issued by ICAR- Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Kolkata Centre today stated that the programme on " Enhancing fish productivity through farmers participatory research" demonstrated farming techniques relevant to local conditions and various topics on farm-made feeds with locally available leaves, fish health management, water quality testing, plankton estimation etc were discussed.
A field trip to the successful fish farm of M/S S Tomba and Sons at Hiyanthang was also conducted to expose the farmers to modern fish farming methods.
Renowned progressive fish farmer Soibam Surchandra shared his vast experience and techniques for the benefit of the farmers.
The programme was felicitated by Jeneshing Tarao, District Fishery Officer, Chandel district, Manipur.
