Imphal, September 29 2021: As a part of the India's 75th Independence Day celebration, the Manipur State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MSRLM), Department of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Government of Manipur today organised a function 'Dedicating 50,000 SHG women members as Business Correspondent' .
The function was held under the initiative of the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India at Hotel Classic Royale, Imphal.
32 SHGs were conferred certificates and electronic devices by the Indian Institute of Banking & Finance during the function.
Speaking at the function, Yumnam Robita, State Mission Director, MSRLM urged the participants to give cooperation and support to help achieve the goal of the mission.
Under the scheme, women are empowered through the SHGs and the function will highlight the active role of the Bank Sakhis, she said.
She appreciated the women entrepreneurs and encouraged them to work harder to excel in their businesses.

Further, she also requested the bank partners to assist those SHGs in need of help and assured continuous support from the Mission.
Speaking on the topic 'Business Correspon dents as Entrepreneurship', Lianminthang, Director, Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI), Churachandpur said that in a digitalized world and the ongoing financial inclusion effort of the Government, Business Correspondents (BCs) have an important role to play as a link to the banks and the rural masses.
They can also greatly benefit if they imbibe characteristics of a successful entrepreneur, he said.
He went on to inform that RSETI also trains BCs under the 'One GP One BC Sakhi' program with certification by Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF) and also trains rural poor and unemployed youths in various trades with the objective of generation of self- employment and entrepreneurship.
