PM Narendra Modi's 71st birthday celebration CM leads cleanliness drive, launches 'Elderline' toll free number, distributes gifts

Imphal, September 18 2021: Besides announcing the 'Chief Minister's Health for All' scheme for the people of Manipur and launching 'Elderline' toll free helpline number for senior citizens, Chief Minister N Biren Singh led a mass cleanliness drive and distributed gifts and sweets to destitute children and sanitation workers, patients and attendants of JNIMS Hospital to mark the 71st birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17 .

In the early morning, N Biren Singh reached Khwairamband Shamu Makhong and took part in the mass cleanliness drive jointly organised by Imphal Municipal Corporation and Imphal East District Police, Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB), Manipur and Manipur Fire Service.

Similar cleanliness drives were also organised at Manipur Secretariat, Government Departments and district offices.

Speaking at the occasion, N Biren Singh said that the Prime Minister has a vision and firm determination to uplift the needy and weaker sections of the society.

Prime Minister's gifts to Manipur like ILPS, National Sports University, oxygen plants, free vaccines and free ration during COVID-19 pandemic would be remembered forever, he said while adding that his noble schemes like Ayushman Bharat, PM Kishan and other schemes had benefited crores of people.


Further he stated that 'Health for All' is the vision of the Prime Minister.

In line with this vision, the State Government had introduced the Chief Ministergi Hakshelgi Tengbang Scheme (CMHT) under which 4.19 lakh beneficiaries had been enrolled as on August 31, 2021, he added.

Stating that the objective of the scheme is to conduct primary health check-up for all the citizens of Manipur and further stated that the scheme would especially benefit elderly patients above 60 years, bedridden patients and non-communicable disease (NCD) patients, who are not on regular follow-up or who have not visited health centre due to financial or physical problems.

Regarding 'Elderline', the Chief Minister said that it is a helpline for senior citizens with toll-free number - 14567, where they may seek help if they are bothered or harassed by anybody.

He added that they may also seek assistance regarding old-age pension, healthcare, Maintenance Act, legal assistance, mental health issues, homeless, etc.

The helpline, which would be run jointly by the State Social Welfare Department, NISD and Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India would remain active from 8 am to 8 pm daily, the Chief Minister informed.

Ngangom Uttam Singh, Director (Social Welfare) in a press conference held at Social Welfare office yesterday said that the Elder Line is managed by the implementing agency 'Alankit Assignments Limited' and has two key components, a connect centre/call centre that has officers who empathise with the senior citizen and understand the problem faced by the senior citizen and field support that takes care of 'on the field' intervention that are required out of the service requested by the senior citizen.

As a part of PM Narendra Modi's birthday celebration, BJP Kisan Morcha Manipur Pradesh also organised Kisan Jawan Samman Dewas Palan at GM hall on September 17.Education Minister, S Rajen Singh, MP of Rajya Sabha, Leihshemba Sanajaoba, MLA of Wangjing Tentha AC, P Brojen Singh, K Ningthemjao Singh, president of BJP Kisan Morcha Manipur Pradesh and former presidents of BJP Manipur Pradesh, Kh Bhabhananda Singh and Sh Shantikumar Sharma attended the programme as presidium members, said a press release by BJP Kisan Morcha, Manipur Pradesh.
